Nutanix in spotlight at CCS event

Nutanix, a next-generation computing and storage company, will be in the spotlight next Wednesday when CCS hosts them at an event for the IT industry.

CCS and Nutanix will be discussing server and storage use cases that are common to Bermuda businesses, specifically, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, Disaster Recovery and Catastrophe Modelling.

A CCS press release stated: “Pervasive technologies such as private cloud, virtual desktop infrastructure and big data analytics coupled with the continued need for cost effective disaster recovery solutions are pushing the limits of traditional storage area networks.

“As a result businesses have to overbuild their storage infrastructures leaving them with power hungry storage and server farms that are underutilised for most of the year.”

CCS explained that Nutanix is a San Jose, California-based technology company that bases its business on a software model that was implemented on clusters of hardware.

“They also took the bold step of converging computer and storage resources into a single tier, thereby removing the complexity of a storage network. By integrating datacentre intelligence into software instead of hardware, and eliminating costly network infrastructure, Google and others have been able to realise both massive scale and rapid feature velocity. “At the same time, they have achieved unprecedented economics by eliminating the need to upgrade hardware simply to achieve greater performance or scale, while still increasing overall reliability.”

Kory Logan, sales and marketing director for CCS is quoted as saying: “There are a lot of benefits to the Nutanix solution, but the value of some of those benefits such as simplified management, reduced footprint and reduced power consumption are all amplified in Bermuda due to the cost of skilled people, space and electricity.” Ian Cook, CCS’ general manager, is also quoted, and said: “Once you understand the architecture, the advantages are obvious. Several Bermuda businesses have already invested in the platform and are experiencing great returns. Nutanix has become one of CCS’ fastest growing offerings. It is truly a revolutionary solution.”

The event is scheduled for Wednesday, November 13 from 8.30am to 11.30am at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess.

Space is limited, and anyone interested in attending should contact Sylvia Jones at Corporate Concierge on (441) 296-8663 or e-mail eventrsvp@ccs.bm.
