Tucker?s Point club to hit 100% occupancy ? Brown

The new Golf Villas Residence Club at Tucker?s Point will have 100 percent occupancy in the summer, Tourism and Transport Minister Ewart Brown revealed yesterday. He said 12 of the 20-units were complete and had enjoyed 70 percent occupancy between October 2005 and April 2006. Units in the final phase are set to open on April 29.

Work will start on a further 38 units, known as the Harbour Court Residence Club, in July and they will be opened in phases from November 2007 to mid 2008. Dr. Brown said pre-construction on the Tucker?s Point Hotel is underway with steel and infrastructure work being done while construction will start in July with the opening set for 2008.

The Minister updated the House on progress at the resort which he described as a ?hive of activity? during the passing of the Hotel Concession (Castle Harbour Redevelopment) Order 2006 which updated concessions.

It reflects the reduction of guest units of the Tucker?s Point Club from 108 to 100.

Dr. Brown said: ?This change has been mutually agreed with the developers after numerous meetings and extensive consultation. It is anticipated that these ultra-luxury guest units will be complimented by equally as luxurious world-class amenities all affiliated with the world-renowned Five Star Greenbrier Resort.?

MPs also a passed bill to update concessions for the Wyndam Beach Spa Resort under the Hotels Concessions Act which allows tax relief for hotels reinvesting in their properties.

Dr. Brown said the Hurricane Fabian had added almost $10 million to the cost of redevelopment of the site which now stood at $25 million.

The Order allows for concessions worth $1,652,300.
