$350 for impaired driving in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Tanya Esplin-Jones, 26, of Lighthouse Hill, Southampton, also had her driver's licence suspended for one year.

Prosecuting, Police Sgt. Peter Giles said Esplin-Jones was seen driving on the wrong side of South Shore Road in Warwick at 2.25 a.m. on June 28.

"Officers had to swerve to avoid a collision,'' he said.

When stopped, Esplin-Jones smelled of alcohol and admitted to having two drinks, he said. She later gave a breathalyser reading of 161 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams.

Magistrate the Wor. John Judge told Esplin-Jones to pay half the fine yesterday or spend 35 days in prison. But he said she could have until January 8 to pay the balance.

"I suppose I do not want to spoil your Christmas parties,'' he said.
