Poll gives Premier high ratings
A new poll has found most persons approve of Paula Cox's performance as Premier.The poll, released today by Research Innovations, also found 84.3 percent of respondents had a favourable opinion of Ms Cox.And it revealed 57.6 percent of voters were pleased with Ms Cox's performance in her new role.The telephone poll was conducted last week.Less than half the persons polled 43.7 percent had a favourable opinion of United Bermuda Party leader Kim Swan; 25.3 percent had a favourable opinion of Bermuda Democratic Alliance leader Craig Cannonier.The same poll found 24 percent of voters dissatisfied with the way things are going in Bermuda at the moment.Only 8.3 percent of respondents described economic conditions as “good”. Most persons, 63.8 percent, felt the economy was headed in the wrong direction.If a general election was called tomorrow, 46.8 percent said they would vote for the Progressive Labour Party; 12.8 percent said they would vote for the UBP; 3.9 percent would vote for the BDA.This afternoon the PLP issued a statement which said: “We are grateful for and heartened by the confidence of the people in our Leader. We remain ever vigilant of the challenges facing our country and are working to ensure we navigate through them successfully. There is much work ahead and we plan to keep our shoulders to the wheel."The poll had a sample size of 403.
