Outstanding entertainment
June 10, 2012Dear Sir,With all of the negativity that has permeated our little Island of late, it was refreshing to venture out and see in the form of entertainment something that we can brag about. The Fairmont Hamilton Princess has a show in the Harbourview Ballroom that is a delight and a fine example of Bermuda at its best. It has been such a long time since we have had a professionally produced show that sets benchmarks for others to hopefully follow, and Bermuda Magic the Renaissance has put together such a show. An impressive array of talent, song selection, nostalgia and comedy, with real laughable and memorable moving moments. It is a clever blend of yesterday’s music with today’s technology, smart and savvy musical arrangements, great vocals and energetic choreography that enhances but never distracts from the superbly worked harmonies. The highlight certainly include the original song ‘There’s No Place Like Bermuda’ (it sent chills up my spine) Gene Steede and the Limbo dancing. A magician auditioning for a job with the show adds a nice light touch as well. This show is just a good time, and everybody loved it!Stephan Hinds has produced excellence and magic with this latest production and we have sorely missed his level and standard of entertainment on our shores. This rebirth, however, can be short lived if we as Bermudians and therefore joint stakeholders, do not do everything we can to support this effort. I hope that the Department of Tourism and all relevant ministries are doing all that they can to facilitate the success of this show because it is too good to fail. The cast and crew have delivered, it’s not up to the hospitality community, us as Bermudians to deliver as well. If we all believe in the Magic of Bermuda this show will be around for a while.JUST OBSERVANT
