Between 3 a.m. and 8.30 a.m. on Wednesday, the Newstead Hotel on Harbour Road in Paget was entered and two pairs of shorts, two belts, a wallet and a purse were removed, a Police spokeswoman reported yesterday.

The wallet and purse each contained cash, credit cards and other personal items.

And at 4 a.m. yesterday, Police went to Ariel Sands Hotel and were told by a male guest that his room had been ransacked by a thief or thieves after he left it at 6.30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Stolen were a Seiko watch, a gold Movado watch, a Hewlett Packard desk top computer, five airline tickets, a call phone, cash and credit cards.

Elsewhere, a thief or thieves broke into the bar at PHC Stadium overnight Tuesday and smashed open a cigarette machine and removed cash from it.

An intruder also entered a First Avenue, Devonshire residence on Wednesday and stole a pair of ear-rings and some loose change from a container while the occupant was at work.

And Police are on the lookout for a man who is suspected of stealing a gold necklace from Vera P. Card on Wednesday evening.

The incident occurred at around 8.15 p.m. while the store attendant was at a rear counter. She reported that she saw a man standing looking in the shop window who then darted from the store and ran east on Front Street to a pedal cycle near the Birdcage which he rode away on.

A customer said the man had taken a necklace from one of the displays.

He is described as about six feet tall, between 50 to 60 years old, dark brown skinned and with a greyish beard. He was wearing a red bandana and white shorts and was carrying a backpack.

The gold Omega necklace is described as about ten to 12 inches long with no visible links.

But Police have made one arrest -- of a 16-year-old Sandys youth in connection with a break-in and theft at a Chaingate Hill, Devonshire residence on Wednesday.

The incident is believed to have occurred between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. and a radio, some clothing and jewellery were stolen.

Based on information received, Police arrested the suspect around 7.30 p.m.

and subsequently recovered the items.
