Two principals among the new faces of teaching staff
The Ministry of Education has announced new appointments for the coming year, including two new principals, three education officers and one pre-school administrator.
Bonnie McGlynn leaves her post as educational officer for Learning Support to take over the helm of the Dame Marjorie Bean Hope Academy.
A former Mount St. Agnes Academy pupil, she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree at Mr. Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick. She went on to earn her Masters of Education with a Certification in Severe and Profound Disabilities from Boston University in Massachusetts.
Veteran educator Carlos Symonds ? previously with Berkeley Institute ? has been appointed Principal of Clearwater Middle School.
Mr. Symonds has been an educator in the Bermuda Public Schools system for 23 years and was Deputy Principal at the Berkeley Institute for several years.
Prior to this, he was Deputy Principal of CedarBridge Academy and has also served as First Assistant Master and Senior Year Supervisor at the Berkeley Institute.
Trained at Howard University, Mr. Symonds holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and a Masters of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership from Miami University.
The Department has also appointed three new education officers including Craig Nikolai, LeeAnn Simmons and Carmelita Smith, as well as a new pre-school administrator, Jennifer Bascome.
