Wolves shocked

Wolves returned to the scene of their recent Martonmere Cup semi-final triumph...and got a taste of their own medicine! Two-and-a-half weeks ago Wovles beat North Village with nine men, but this time they were on the receiving end as 10-man Trojans pulled off an upset.

Somerset's winning goal came 13 minutes from the end when Carlos Lopes fouled Somerset's Steval Mendes, for which he was booked. From the freekick on the left edge of the penalty box, Michael Brangman squeezed a header into the near post.

The Trojans were clearly up for this challenge and this fast-paced game was only 16 minutes old when the home team took the lead. Brangman supplied the cross from the left and when it wasn't cleared properly, Nasir Wade pounced to smash the ball into the roof of the net.

The teams were going flat out in an exciting first half which produced a Wolves equaliser in the 36th minute when Ellington Weldon planted a rebound into the bottom corner.

Wolves looked vulnerable down the left flank where Somerset's fullback Andrew Rahman was constantly in the thick of the action.

The Trojans were reduced to 10 men in first half injury time when Nasir Wade was ejected for a second booking, while Wolves lost Leonard Hypolite to an injury.

Though Wolves took the lead with a smartly taken header from captain Anthony Thomas in the 62nd minute from a freekick, Somerset refused to concede the points and dug deep to pull off a deserved victory to spoil Brown's return to Somerset.

Mendes made it 2-2 with a low shot inside the post after Cory Smith conceded a freekick and earned a booking on the edge of the box in the 68th minute.
