Students, politicians to view Al Gore's global warming film

Hundreds of students and political figures will today be discussing ways to tackle global warming at an event at the new Berkeley Institute.

Former US Vice President Al Gore's documentary 'An Inconvenient Truth' will be screened in front of 350 social studies and science students, as well as teachers from Berkeley Institute and CedarBridge Academy.

Others in attendance at the screening, which is hosted by The Menelik Foundation, include Environment, Telecommunications and E-Commerce Minister Neletha Butterfield and director of Sustainable Development Erica Smith.

Representatives from various charities and environmental groups from across Bermuda will also be there.

Organisers say the event is designed to raise awareness and provide valuable information that encourages people to engage in meaningful activities to help the environment.

Students, teachers and invited guests should be seated by 9 a.m. for a brief introduction before the screening starts at 9.15 a.m.

The 90-minute film will be followed by 30 minutes of questions from the audience and presentations from the represented groups.

The event will be filmed so it can be used in a document about sustainable development in Bermuda being produced by The Menelik Foundation.
