Anonymous Santas help needy children
toys to almost 540 children.
The toys were received through the efforts of the Anonymous Santa programme which it annually sponsors for needy children.
Major Woody Hale, divisional commander and one of the pioneers of the programme, also noted that 510 hampers full of household necessities have been distributed across the Island to families in need.
"The hampers are worth approximately $100 each and have been provided by support from the Annual Red Shield Appeal as well as the generosity of many businesses,'' he said.
Major Hale said the Army's Emergency Housing Complex will continue to reach out to the homeless and the needy throughout the Christmas season.
"There is no need for any person to be without bread if the fact is legitimate,'' he said.
And Captain Susanne Fisher, executive director of Harbour Light, has confirmed that a special programme has been arranged for clients during Christmas.
There will be free meals served at Christmas Day at the centre.
