Convention has sober subject
the end of the month at the Princess Hotel.
Three speakers are scheduled for the three-day event which begins on Friday, November 25.
Sister Rose from The Bronx, New York, will speak to Al-Anon, and Mr. Frank M.
from Illinois and Sister Maurice D., also from The Bronx, will address Alcoholics Anonymous. More than 70 visitors from the United States and Canada are flying in for the convention.
A Press statement described Alcoholics Anonymous as a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other so they may solve their common problem and help others recover from alcoholism.
"Alcoholics Anonymous' primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety,'' the statement said.
There are now more than 28 weekly AA meetings in Bermuda.

OPEN HOUSE AT OPERATING ROOM HOS Open house at operating room The King Edward VII Memorial Hospital will open its operating room to the public this weekend as part of Operating Room Nurses' Week.
For the first time, the hospital is recognising the week which is marked annually by the US-based Association of Operating Room Nurses.
Assistant unit coordinator of the hospital's operating room Mrs. Loretta Santucci said the open house will allow members of the public to "see what we do and how we do it.'' She added: "We want to show the public the advances made in surgery and what the hospital has to offer.
"O R Nurses' Week is from November 13 to 19 and we will have different displays and activities for the public to educate them about the contributions of patient nurses.'' Mrs. Santucci added that the theme for O R Nurses' Week is: "We cannot change the wind but we can adjust the sails, delivering quality patient care in a changing environment.'' Said Mrs Santucci: "We want everyone to recognise the health care environment and the changing roles of the operating room nurses.'' The public will be given guided tours of the second floor operating rooms, the anaesthetic area and operating equipment from 9 a.m. until noon this Saturday, the final day of OR Nurses' Week.
AN ARMCHAIR VIEW OF CASEMATES TV An armchair view of Casemates TV viewers can tour the old Casemates prison tonight with prisons commissioner Mr. Edward Dyer.
"Fast Forward, Bda'', on VSB-TV 11 (Cable 4) at 8 p.m., will feature the prison in the second part of its focus on Youth and Authority.
Some of the issues discussed during the show will be the relationship between youth and Police and the meaning of probation. Guests will include Police officers, teenagers, a "young offender'' on probation and Mr. Dyer.
THIEVES TARGET WARWICK HOTELS CRM Thieves target Warwick hotels Thieves made off with cash and other personal items after breaking into two Warwick guest accommodations on Sunday night.
In the first incident, two occupants at a Warwick hotel said someone entered their room while they were sleeping and stole two handbags containing cash, credit cards, travellers cheques and cameras.
In the other, a couple at a nearby hotel reported that their room was entered and several bags, containing cash, credit cards, a passport, a pair of binoculars, were stolen.
TOURIST ARRIVALS FLYING HIGH TOU Tourist arrivals flying high Tourist arrivals were up two percent last week when a total of 7,242 visitors flew into the Island.
There were no cruise arrivals.
Tourist arrivals were also ahead for the year so far. A total of 558,196 people have visited the Island in 1994 -- a 4.3 percent increase over the period from January to November 13, 1993.
