Tax advice for US citizens
A workshop has been created for US citizens residing in Bermuda in order to teach people how to deal with new tax laws and ensure their Bermuda pension can be useful.
Lauren Grant Thor, of the Financial Advisory Group in the US, is chairing the free event.
Ms Grant said she realised there was a large number of US citizens residing in Bermuda when her father, Charles Grant, moved to the Island.
"This workshop is intended to inform the US citizen on some important updates and changes in federal estate tax law, discuss new offerings in the area of long-term care plans available only in the US, and show how the Bermuda pension can help supplement your retirement income and more," she said.
"Ultimately, you will end up back in the US and it may be too late to take care of some of these important steps in planning for independence.
"It is my goal to educate and create awareness on these key issues so that your golden years are truly that... golden."
Speeches will be made about updated estate tax laws and investment strategies.
BF&M vice president Peter Lamb will also speak on the rules regarding Bermudian pensions and US citizens.
It will be held at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess on October 11 from 5 p.m. till 7.30 p.m.
People interested in attending the event must register before Friday to register call 516-2390 or email eric@thorfinancialadvisory.com.
