station opened in the parish.

The Parish constables' station on Middle Road is seen by Police top brass as an important outpost, providing a vital link between the public and the main force in Hamilton.

At the opening ceremony, Commissioner Jean-Jacques Lemay said the office would enable residents to have direct contact with the four parish constables and two reserve officers based there.

In addition, it would mean the Police task force would also be just a phone call away.

"This is going to be an office where people can drop in and come to interact with Police,'' he said. "They can file complaints and discuss issues or concerns with officers.'' Mr. Lemay said the station had been a long time coming and he paid tribute to Warwick West MP Quinton Edness and Community Affairs Minister Yvette Swan, who he said had worked hard to make it happen.

Last night, Mr. Edness said the "satellite'' office was "almost like a dream come true'' but added that he had greater aspirations.

"I would like to see a fully resourced Police substation near the Bermuda Bowl,'' he said.

The office, which will become part of the Western Division, has also been established with the help of the Police western consultative committee.
