Entertainers’ union blasts Brannon

The Bermuda’s Entertainment Union tonight weighed in a row over a social media post made by a well-known entertainer.The BEU condemned “disturbing and disparaging remarks” made by Tony Brannon, a regular on island stages, after a Facebook post where he told the Government “you cockroaches need to open up immigration” - which was condemned as racist.Mr Brannon later issued a public apology and deleted the post.The BEU executive and president Selena Fields said: “We vehemently denounce his remarks.”The statement added: “The BEU has an obligation to take a strong public stance against all forms of racism and inflammatory statements made by a member of our industry.”The statement added that the BEU backed Government’s “promise to reform immigration in a responsible and balanced manner”.
