The premier issue, which features leading local women's runner Jennifer Fisher on the cover, spotlights two of Bermuda's top international winter attractions -- Race Weekend and the Bermuda Festival.

It includes features on this weekend's leading race contenders plus a full guide to what's on when, and profiles some of the top performers in this year's Festival.

Published by Crown Communications, the new magazine division of The Royal Gazette Ltd., and printed at the Bermuda Press, RG Magazine also includes a travel section and a host of regular features which will appear each month.

Thursday's Royal Gazette will cost $1.00 instead of the regular 50 cents but the newspaper is offering a unique money back guarantee on the first issue.

Dissatisfied readers have until next Tuesday to return the magazine to the paper's offices for a refund of the 50 cents surcharge.

The magazine's Editor-in-Chief Mr. David L. White said yesterday: "This is a quality colour publication aimed at a wide readership. It took a good deal of nerve to plan this magazine in the midst of a recession and we are appreciative of the wide advertising support we have received.

"I think Chris Gibbons and his team have created an exciting magazine with good content and a top look. I think the public will be pleased.'' Managing editor Mr. Chris Gibbons said: "The newspaper/magazine package represents tremendous value for readers and advertisers. Readers will effectively be getting a quality glossy magazine that would normally cost $4.00 or more for just 50 cents.

"I think once people see the magazine and get used to the idea, they will look forward to it every month as a real value-for-money package.'' He added: "I'm delighted with the first issue. The content is varied, well-written and interesting, and I think readers will be excited by the fresh and exciting design of the magazine by our art director, Dana Cooper.

"In the coming months, there will be something for everyone in RG -- entertainment, sports, fashion, travel and an in-depth look at some of today's major issues and personalities.

"It will be a magazine that will endeavour to reflect The Royal Gazette's broad readership.''
