ARSONIST FACE INQUIRY CTS Arsonist faces inquiry A Warwick man yesterday pleaded guilty to four Supreme Court charges of arson and property damage.

Chet Wilmot, of Farm Lane, admitted setting fire to a building on East Avenue in Southampton while people were inside on March 4 this year.

Wilmot, represented by lawyer Yogarani Horseman, also admitted wilfully and unlawfully damaging an Oleander Cycles rental cycle on March 4, a car on February 24, and the same car between February 24 and 28.

Puisne Judge Norma Wade-Miller remanded Wilmot in custody, pending the completion of a psychiatric assessment which will be presented on September 1.

LINDO'S PLANS ADDITION PLN Lindo's plans addition A grocery store has applied to add a two-storey extension with rooftop parking to its Devonshire premises.

Lindo's Market in Devonshire made the application to the Development Applications Board this week.

General manager Giorgio Zanol called the application "preliminary'' and said the company was looking toward the future.

The plans include a three-story 635 square-foot extension to the west of the existing building with a car park on the highest floor.

SCHOOL TO ALTER GYM PLN School to alter gym The Bermuda Institute has applied to move a stairway and build a new sound room for its new gymnasium.

The Development Applications Board will consider the proposal to alter the original plan for access to science rooms above the gym at the Middle Road, Southampton East school.

"Those changes are part of our building programme,'' Principal Shiela Holder said yesterday. "We plan to use the gymnasium for graduation next year.'' Mrs. Holder said the sound room would be used for presentations and dramas.

"Phase two of the school's plans include removing the roof of the computer room and adding a storey for five new classrooms,'' she added.

DELI PLAN SUBMITTED PLN Deli plan submitted Hayward's Grocery has resubmitted plans to the Development Applications Board for a new delicatessen and reconfiguration of its parking lot.

The original proposal was submitted in April and included plans for the addition of a deli on the Southern end of the building.

Access to the parking lot will be through one way entrance and exits divided by a planter.

Spokesperson Paul Hayward was unavailable for comment.

WARNING FOR BOATERS POL Warning for boaters Boat operators have been warned of the dangers of not using navigation lights.

Marine Police issued the warning after two vessels were stopped in Hamilton Harbour on Monday night, without lighting.

At 9.p.m. an 11 foot inflatable dinghy was caught close to White's Island and shortly afterwards another boat was also stopped without lights.

A Marine Police spokesman said: "We would remind boat operators that navigation lights are required during darkness. We will be stopping boats that are seen contravening this and other marine regulations.'' MAN ARRESTED FOR DRUGS CTS Man arrested for drugs Police arrested a Pembroke man on Monday on suspicion of possessing drugs.

The 27-year-old man was stopped and searched on Elliott Street at 6 p.m. He was found to have a substance which Police believe could be cocaine.

The man is due to appear in court at a later date.
