Second-half blitz kills off Parish

Boulevard's dream of a second league and FA Cup double in three years was kept alive by a brilliant second-half display that produced five goals at St.

David's.

Boulevard had done enough in each half to suggest they would be winners at the end of the 90 minutes but Parish had their own right to dream of an upset after Scot John Nichol's first goal of the season in the 21st minute separated the teams at the half.

Parish, bottom of the First Division, were not overawed by their in-form opponents who were boosted by the return of Cleveland, Ohio, resident Kevin Smith who boosted their midfield where he teamed up with his younger brother Albert.

Kevin had the best of the early chances in the 18th minute when Walter Brangman in the Parish goal did well to scramble his free kick from 20 yards over the bar.

Three minutes later Parish took a surprise lead after winger Irving Burgess forced a corner on the right side. The first corner by Ashton Outerbridge saw full-back Phillion Webb's header cleared for another corner and this time captain Nichol met the ball at the far post and volleyed a superb shot past 'keeper Mitchell Steede.

Boulevard boosted their attack at the start of the second half by bringing on Neil Robinson for Johnny Boyles and 10 minutes later they were finally back on level terms when Albert Smith forced a corner on the left and then supplied the cross for Carlos Pearman to score with a header.

Until Boulevard took the lead in the 69th minute through Kenny Hill, they were still finding Parish a tough nut to crack.

But that goal from close range seemed to knock the wind out of the visitors as Boulevard finished the match with three goals in the final 13 minutes of play.

They did not even need a full 90 minutes on their `investment' as Kevin Smith was substituted moments after the fourth goal.

Hill almost added a second in the 76th when his acrobatic flick came off a post.

A minute later Albert Smith scored from the penalty spot after Walton Burgess was blown down for deliberate hand-ball and booked.

Goal number four came in the 79th minute following a corner on the left, which saw Pearman get off a shot that was curling wide of the far post before Hill, with his back to goal, brilliantly flicked the ball inside the far post to send Brangman the wrong way.

Then, in the closing moments Brangman came off his line to challenge Warren who recovered, regained possession and then curled a stunning right-foot shot into the far top corner with Brangman out of position.

Parish's Antwon Darrell, for fouling, and Albert Smith, dissent, were first-half bookings.
