On the waterfront: Hamilton may soon have dining option

Hamilton may soon have an option for dining right on the waterfront in the heart of the city.A top chef in Bermuda is involved in a bid to open an exciting new restaurant at Barr's Bay Park, sources in the industry told The Royal Gazette. After occupying it for years, Marine Police vacated the City of Hamilton building on the Harbour at Barr's Bay Park last month.Ed Benevides, COO and secretary for the Corporation of Hamilton, said: "I can confirm that the Bermuda Police Service are no longer leasing the building at Barr's Bay Park."They moved out several weeks ago."The City of Hamilton is currently negotiating the lease with a possible tenant whose application was successful in the open tender issued last year."It would be premature to comment on the lease until it has been signed by both parties."The Corporation declined to comment on who the possible tenant was.Options for dining on Hamilton Harbour have long been limited due to prime waterfront space along Front Street taken up by parking lots, docks, and cruise terminals.
