thriller 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (7-5).

Leader and Cordeiro saved four match points in the 11th game of the final set in order to send the match to a tie-break, and even there the action was just as pulsating.

The Boyles jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the tie-break but couldn't seal victory as the score was knotted at 3-3, 4-4 and 5-5 before Courtland hit a scorching cross-court shot to take a 6-5 lead.

The brothers finally put victory away after nearly three hours when a forehand shot down the line by Leader was pushed agonisingly wide.

CROSS COUNTRY The sequence of cross country victories by Kavin Smith and Jennifer Fisher ended on Saturday during the fourth race of the series at PHC Stadium -- but it was their absence rather than the opposition that denied them more glory.

In Smith's absence, Errol Cormack romped to victory among the men in a time of 41 minutes, 28 seconds, with Rory Gorman second in 43.05 and Harry Patchett, the first Master, third in 43.14. Calvin Steede (44.19) and Dyrone Minors (45.32) completed the top five in a field of 22 male finishers.

Jane Christie led the small women's field with a winning time of 26.48, almost three minutes ahead of second-placed Maria Payne in 29.24. Cynthia Thomas was third in 29.40, Marie Duffy fourth in 32.32 and Midge Oliver fifth in 32.56.

Just eight women entered.

WOMEN'S SOCCER PHC Teasers announced their entrance to the Women's Division in a big way on Saturday night when they expelled the challenge of fellow newcomers Robin Hood with a 4-1 home triumph.

Playing before an enthusiastic crowd, Teasers showed that it was not only the men who possessed fancy footwork as they tap danced over and around a game but inferior Hood team.

It took just seven minutes for the home side to stamp their authority on the affair as Lisa Raynor tallied.

The advantage was doubled when Suzanne Steede scored in the 22nd minute.

Further strikes came in the second half as substitute Racquel Wilkinson scored in the 51st minute and Terry-Lynn Paynter got in the act 10 minutes later.

Hood notched a consolation score in the 71st minute when J.Hodgkins netted.

SNOOKER The team of Paul Charleton, Stephen Roberts and Robert Gaglio captured the Island Construction Three-man tournament held over the weekend at Old Colony Club.

The trio picked up 14 out of a possible 18 points, with Roberts producing the high break with a 37 in his first game.

Second overall was the side containing Greg Falzone, Tony DeSilva and Kyle Thompson, while third went to Zane DeSilva, Steve Bremar and Stephen Pantry.

Regular season action resumes tomorrow.
