A bad break for towed car's owner
Magistrates' Court yesterday.
David Arorash, 26, pleaded guilty to stealing the sticker and putting it on his car to pass it off as licenced.
Insp. Peter Duffy, prosecuting, told the court Police were called to the scene of a traffic accident on April 6 at the junction of Court and Victoria Streets.
The accident was caused when a car under tow smashed into another car when its tow rope broke.
The car being towed belonged to Arorash. Insp. Duffy said Police discovered the car was unlicenced even though it carried a valid sticker.
Arorash confessed to stealing the sticker from a car at the airport dump. But he said he had not driven the car while the sticker was on it.
Acting Senior Magistrate the Wor. John Judge fined him $150 and gave him a conditional discharge for 12 months.

Owners of a Dock Hill, Devonshire home had $150 stolen while they were out.
A Hamilton Parish couple discovered two gold bracelets missing from their guest apartment. The theft was discovered around 7 p.m. on Monday night.
Police also reported a theft at a Jennings Road, Smith's Parish home on Monday. The owners returned home to find a gold chain and a pair of sand-dollar earrings stolen.
WOMAN AARRESTED FOR OWN SAFETY CTS Woman arrested for own safety A social inquiry report was ordered in Magistrates' Court yesterday after a 17-year-old Sandys woman pleaded guilty to committing wilful damage.
Tammy Edness of Broome Street was charged with damaging a concrete wastebin, an information board and a public telephone at the Watford Bridge ferry dock.
Insp. Peter Duffy, prosecuting, said Police received reports at 4.45 a.m. on July 28 of a woman screaming at the bridge.
They arrived at the ferry dock to find Edness threatening to throw herself overboard and her boyfriend trying to stop her.
Edness was under the influence of alcohol and was arrested for her own safety.
Acting Senior Magistrate the Wor. John Judge adjourned the case for two weeks.
MAN THREATENED TO KILL POLICE CTS Man threatened to kill police A Pembroke man pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court yesterday to using offensive words, resisting arrest and wilful damage.
Insp. Peter Duffy, prosecuting, told the court that on June 27 Police were called to a Stowe Court home after receiving a report of a violent domestic dispute.
Upon arriving they found Carlos Gilbert, 25, threatening to kill anyone who came near him. When Police arrested him for using offensive words, Gilbert began kicking out at the Police and had to be restrained.
Gilbert was put in the Police car, where he did $225 worth of damage to the door and seats.
Acting Senior Magistrate the Wor. John Judge adjourned the case for two weeks pending a social inquiry report.
MAN ADMITS HE ASSAULTED WIFE CTS Man admits he assaulted wife A 52-year-old man who assaulted his wife in their Pembroke home was given a conditional discharge when he appeared on Magistrates' Court on Monday.
George W. Phipps admitted the offence, which took place on Saturday.
Insp. Peter Duffy, prosecuting, said Police responded to a call from Linda Phipps. When they arrived her husband was visibly drunk and was arrested.
Phipps told the court: "We both have a drinking problem. That's where the problem lies. I just take the blame all the time. It's not fair.'' Acting Senior Magistrate the Wor. John Judge gave Phipps a 12-month conditional discharge. He said if Phipps assaulted anyone within that time, it would activate the charge stemming from the incident.
