Police seek witnesses to late night South Road crash

Crash location: Police officers PC Lewis (left) and PC Gills officer in charge of accident investigation are seen at the spot where a motorbike and car collided on South Road last Saturday night. Police are seeking witnesses to the crash.

Police are appealing for witnesses to a car crash that has left a 16-year-old Sandys boy fighting for his life.

Shakir Amory was yesterday in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

The motorcycle he was riding collided with a car on Saturday night on South Road near the junction with Brighton Hill.

The driver, a 36-year-old Smith's woman, sustained injuries to her right hand and leg.

She was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and subsequently released on Police bail.

Police held a press conference yesterday at the site of the collision, appealing for information.

"On Saturday, the 6th of March at about 11 p.m. there was a road traffic collision between a black and blue bike and a white motor car," said Police Constable Preston Gill.

"The motorcar was travelling west and the bike was travelling east when they collided. The cause of the road traffic accident is an ongoing investigation."

Anyone with information about the accident should contact PC Gill on 295-001.
