Torus, the global specialty insurer, has appointed Mathieu Borneuf as Head of Management Liability and Jérôme Gillet as Head of Professional Liability. Both are based in Torus' new Paris office and will manage their respective product lines for France. In addition, Tobias Klein has been appointed Senior Underwriter for Professional Lines in Germany. All three report to Marc van der Veer, Chief Underwriting Officer for Specialty Europe.

Mr. Borneuf joins Torus from Marsh's Finpro practice in France, where he was a Client Adviser for corporate accounts. Prior to this he held various roles at AIG in France and Australia specialising in Financial Lines.

Mr. Gillet joins Torus from ACE Europe where he was most recently Development Underwriter for its Professional Indemnity platform in France. He has also worked at AIG in France, having begun his career at ASSOR.

Mr. Klein, a registered lawyer and member of the bar association of Cologne, will establish Torus' Professional Lines underwriting in Germany, initially focussing on D&O insurance as well as both traditional and non-traditional Professional Liability insurance. He joins Torus from HCC Global Financial Products S.L. in Barcelona, where he provided professional and management insurance solutions for small and midsized corporate risks. Prior to this he was an underwriter at DUAL Deutschland GmbH.

Mr. Van der Veer said: "Along with the expected completion of Torus' acquisition of Glacier Insurance AG later this month, these key appointments enable Torus to truly establish a presence for specialty underwriting in continental Europe.

"Torus has focused on attracting leading market talent since inception and Mathieu, Jerome and Tobias are no exception; by appointing people with specialist knowledge of their respective product lines and markets we are realising the strategy to position Torus as a leading global specialty carrier in all the main specialty classes worldwide."
