charged with murdering college student Wilfred (Oopie) Ming.

Burgess, 30, has denied the charge. Ming died of stab wounds near a Water Street St. George's bar on September 10 last year.

Ming, of East Lane, St. George's, was stabbed two weeks before he was due to return to school.

Burgess will be tried on March 27.

The Supreme Court also set a May 22 trial date for Veronica Leslene Dill who has denied attempting to murder ex-boyfriend Graham Stancliffe.

She has also pleaded not guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent to burn and arson.

In other arraignments, Ashley Gilbert Dowling, 31, of Cedar Heights Lane, Warwick, who admitted to knowingly passing on the AIDS virus to another person was given a mention date of March 1.

Dowling's charge was the first of its kind in Bermuda.

Daughter of reggae star Judy Mowatt, Deborah Wallata Cole, 20, who is charged with importing more than $100,000 worth of cannabis into Bermuda was also given a mention date of March 1.

Cole, who is represented by Mr. Richard Hector, also denies conspiring to import cannabis, with a street value of $160,000, with others not before the court.

A March 1 mention date was also given to Colin Bernett Simmons who has pleaded not guilty to conspiring with others not before the court to importing cannabis into Bermuda between July 31 and September 12 last year.

Simmons, represented by Mr. Archie Warner, also denied importing cannabis between August 30 and September 1994.

A social inquiry report was ordered for Maxwell Sinclair Roberts who confessed to stealing three Bank of Butterfield cheques from the Little Theatre and forging, uttering and receiving money by false pretences.

Roberts obtained a total of $17,400. He was told to return on March 1 for mention.

Fitzgerald Glen Richardson, represented by Mr. Juan Wolffe, denied wounding Stuart Williams on August 19 last year with intent to do him grievous bodily harm.

He also pleaded not guilty to doing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Puisne Judge the Hon. Mr. Justice Ground bailed Richardson in the sum of $1,500 with a like surety until mention on March 1.

Andre Wycliff Place denied being in possession of cannabis on September 21 last year which was intended for supply.

His bail was extended for mention on March 1.

Orien Derek Tuzo and his wife Karen Rochelle Tuzo, both of St. George's, and Michael Eugene Pond, 26, of Pembroke, denied conspiring to import $12 million worth of cannabis to Bermuda between an unknown date and March 23 last year.

They also denied importing cannabis on March 21, 1994 and possessing cannabis with intent to supply.

Their bail was extended until a mention on March 1.

The Tuzos are represented by Mr. Archie Warner. Mr. Tim Marshall represents Pond.

A 31-year-old St. Brendan's Hospital patient was not required to enter a plea to a charge of sexually assaulting a German visitor on September 21 last year.

Lawyer Mr. Mark Pettingill said that whether or not the man was fit to plead had to be determined by the jury.

The man was remanded in custody for mention on February 20.

Jay C. Ming, 21, of Government Gates Pembroke pleaded guilty to carrying an imitation firearm with criminal intent, and attempting to rob Jones Dry goods store.

Ming, who is represented by Mr. Mark Pettingill was remanded in custody until March 1 awaiting a social inquiry report.
