13-year-old Lindo's grocery packer was yesterday put to work by Senior Magistrate William Francis.

Maurice Christopher of Happy Valley Road was fined $200 and ordered to perform 200 hours of community work for his part in the October 29 robbery of the young grocery packer. Christopher had pleaded guilty to the charges in an earlier court appearance.

When asked by the court to explain his actions, Christopher was unable to reply.

"Well, I'll have you working for the Ag and Fish people. And I want you to understand if you do not turn up or do not co-operate there will be very serious consequences,'' warned Mr. Francis.

Shari Birch, of Zuill's Park, pleaded not guilty in Magistrates' Court to racially harassing a man by calling him a "black bastard'' on October 8 in Southampton.

Magistrate Edward King granted Birch bail in the sum of $750 and ordered her to return for trial on April 17.

If convicted, the maximum penalty Birch could face is a fine of $5,000 and/or a year in prison.

WOMAN PULLED OVER, HAD BIKE STOLEN CTS Woman pulled over, had bike stolen A woman who stopped for what she thought were good Samaritans offering free repairs had her bike stolen instead.

She was travelling along South Road in Paget, near the Botanical Gardens, when another cycle with two males aboard flagged her down and offered to help with her bike, which was slightly damaged.

Although reluctant, the victim subsequently agreed, at which point one of the offenders attempted to ride away on her bike. The woman grabbed hold of her basket and began to scream, but the offender repeatedly hit her with a crash helmet before escaping on the bike. The woman, 26, did not require medical treatment.

The first offender is described as a medium brown skinned male, about 19 years old and five-foot, nine-inches tall, with three-inch braids. He was wearing a white puffy jacket and dark pants.

The second offender was described as a dark-skinned male, about five-foot, ten-inches tall wearing a black puffy jacket and dark pants.

WOMAN WAS THROWN FROM MOVING CAR AC CRM Woman was thrown from moving car Police are investigating a Saturday night incident in which a woman was thrown from a moving car.

The incident occurred around around 6 p.m. on Middle Road in Warwick near the PHC Stadium. The 38-year-old victim -- a resident of Southampton -- was apparently travelling in the front seat of a car with a number of other people.

It is believed she was sitting on the lap of another passenger when the door suddenly swung open and she tumbled to the road; the car continued without stopping.

The woman taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital suffering from a broken leg and cuts and abrasions. Police are continuing to investigate.

HOMELESS MAN FINED FOR TAKING RUM CTS Homeless man fined for taking rum Stealing a bottle of Bacardi rum from a liquor store cost a 33-year-old homeless man $50 yesterday.

Derek Tucker, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to stealing a $22 bottle of liquor from the St. George's Liquor Store on York Street on February 8.

Tucker also pleaded guilty to wandering abroad without fixed or proper lodging on the same date.

Magistrate Edward King ordered Tucker to pay a $50 fine and dismissed the wandering abroad charge.
