Bermudians will be honoured during the Premier?s Gala Weekend for their service to the community. The Progressive Labour Party will hold its annual Drum Majors Awards.

The awards inspired by the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., are given to members of the community the PLP feel best embody the ideals set by Dr. King.

This year Dr. Barbara Ball, Ann Caines, Laverne Furbert, Bill and Regina Peniston will be honoured. The Somerset Brigade Band and YMSC Youth Redevelopment Programme will also be presented with the award. The ceremony will take place at Berkeley Institute at 3 p.m on Saturday. It is part of the Premier?s Gala Weekend which will see PLP supports attending a number of swanky events including a concert tonight and a black tie ball tomorrow night.
