Death on tanker

The body of a 60-year-old man had to be brought ashore to Bermuda yesterday afternoon after he died onboard an oil tanker.

Bermuda Rescue Co-Ordination Centre sent out two pilot boats carrying marine police and the coroner to the off-shore Marshall Islands vessel, the Hellesport Trooper, at about 5 p.m.

After they conducted a four-hour investigation onboard the ship, the 899ft vessel continued on its way from Houston, Texas to Portugal and the body was brought to land.
