Upbeat Sims heads off to Colombia
Despite missing the cut in Panama last week, Michael Sims remained upbeat yesterday on his journey to Columbia to compete at this week?s $175,000 Club Columbia Masters at the Bogota Country Club.
The 27-year-old Bermudian finished in a seven-way tie for 148 at the Movistar Panama Championship after posting identical scores of four-over-par 74 in the opening two rounds.
?Obviously I am disappointed with my performance. It was fairly windy while the course played firm and fast. But overall I really liked the course which I thought was in fair shape,? Sims told .
Sims also had to contend with firm fairways, though overall the Nationwide Tour player attributes his demise in Panama to a lack of patience. Still, Bermuda?s top golfer remains confident his fortunes will eventually turn for the better.
?I think I just need to stay patient because it is still very early in the season and although it would have been nice to place, it was just a start.
?I felt like I hit the ball extremely well and was not able to convert a few birdie opportunities and also a few up and downs,? he said.
?I rolled the ball pretty well. But like I said I really just need to be more patient and play my way into the season.?
Sims is not the only Bermudian competing on the Tour de Las Americas this week as fellow Bermudian and long-time friend, Dwayne Pearman, is also expected to be among the field at the Club Columbia Masters which begins tomorrow.
