Public adds their suggestions to City Hall's possible colour change
With the news that the Corporation of Hamilton may paint City Hall a new colour next year The Royal Gazette asked for the public's input.
Several suggestions were posted on our Facebook page.
While some want to keep the building white, others suggested bright colours. Others were in favour of using lights to change the building's colour every so often.
"Bermuda pink with black accents," suggested Roy Richardson.
"Bermuda Pink with sky blue accents," wrote Patricia Lynn Pimentel.
More conservative Bermudians said a bright colour might be too drastic a change.
"Stick with classic white, maybe cream," said Katie DeSilva. "We don't want it to look like a circus tent! You don't see the US painting the White House, pink!"
Said Tarik Shakir Ban-Darrell: "Keep it white, let's not change everything about town. Can we keep something that reminds us of our past?"
Cindy Smith agreed: "There is no need to change the colour. It's City Hall."
There were also suggestions of foregoing a new paint job completely and bathing the building in brightly coloured lights.
"I like the effect of the coloured lights," said Wendy J. Powell Hopkins. "Just change the bulb."
Said March Orchard: "White building. You can mix up the trim — but the coloured lights is a great idea."
Island-Empress Burgess felt a change was OK.
"Colourful lights in the night would be great, especially for visitors," she said.
