Commercial Softball League play on Sunday saw Kempe and Whittle get by Johnson and Higgins 16-10 with Bruce Peddle going five-for-five including a homer
Craig Brangman led the losers with a three-for-four batting appearance. Mutual Risk edged Music World 16-15 as Dan Miller enjoyed a four-for-four night.
Team-mates Dan Sourie and Andy Knatchball went three-for-four. Richard Smith went three-for-four with five runs batted in for the losers.
Texaco slammed Waterbabies 22-6. Mike Hoss led the onslaught by going four-for-four while Tonya Howard went three-for-four. For the losers Robert Yaremko also went three-for-four.
Martha Bidel was the winning pitcher, Bill Neave the loser.
Snowballs beat Palms 8-7 with Bruno Richard and Sylvan Fontaine going three-for-four behind Dennis Pamplin. Andy Soucie took the loss.
PW Wildcats beat MR Onions 22-17 thanks to four-for-five efforts from Al MacKinnon and Elaine Coulter. MacKinnon was the winning pitcher, Chris Mongtomery the loser.
Rubbernecks beat Olympia 9-6 with Kevin Barrett and Rob Swan going three-for-three, Barrett hitting three homers and driving in four runs. Swan was also the winning pitcher.
Deloitte and Touche beat Ernst Young 19-10 on Saturday with Martin Charbonneau, Rob Dawson and Dan Woima all going three-for-four behind winning pitcher Christie Bell. Mike Malott took the loss.
Deanna Clements was in similarly good form for the losers, also contributing a three-for-four night at the plate.
Sandys edged Serco 21-17 behind Timmy Simmons and Ray DeSilva who had four-for-four appearances at the plate. Troy Custudio was the winning pitcher, Clyde Legueir the loser.
For the losers Lloyd Jenkins and David Hix both went three-for-three. Marsh Mac edged Rego 9-7 with Nisala Weerasooriya and Peter Card going two-for-two behind winning pitcher Danny Ray. Weerasooriya suffered the loss.
BOWLING BOW Action in the Fishbowl League on the weekend saw Snappers retain their hold on first place with a four-point win over Tuna while second placed Porgies won by the same margin over Mackerel.
Quinton Mallory spearheaded Porgies with a men's second high series of 549 and third high game of 213 while Mackerel's William Steede did well with a 525 series and second high game of 222 in a losing cause.
Clem Lespere led Marlins in their charge against Piranhas as they took all four points, Lespere rolling a men's top series of 606 and 256 high game while Marj Correia had a women's third high series of 500.
Cow Pollies scored a 4-0 win over Goldfish with Barbara Smith and Maria Alves rolling women's first and second high series of 517 and 510 respectively.
Smith also had top game of 220, taking honours for the night . Norman Beek rolled men's third high series of 526 for the losers.
Wahook beat Barracuda 3-1 behind David Mello's 512 series while Angel Fish were winning over Rockfish by the same margin.
Hinds completed the night with a four point win over Dolphins.
GOLF GLF The team of Dexter Jones, Sherman Lee, Vance Campbell and Quinton Sherlock Jr, finished with a 10-under par 60 at Ocean View to win the recent seventh annual Friswell Hill United Senator Quinton Charles Bean Memorial golf tournament.
Second were the team of Rudy Cann, Wayne Greaves, Quinton Burgess and Edward Tucker while third were Cal Dill, Frank Morgan, Frankie Furbert and Kevin Wilson.
Morgan was closest to the pin on hole eight and Sherlock on seven. Michael Furbert had the longest drive on hole six.
SQUASH SQU The AF Smith Corporate Team Squash tournament gets underway tomorrow evening at the Devonshire Courts with a large field entered.
Fifty four teams have registered, almost doubling last year's entry.
CRICKET CRI Bermuda Cricket Umpires Association will hold a special meeting at the Department of Youth and Sports at 7.30 p.m. today. All members are asked to attend.
