Antoine Darrell, of Kilderry Close, was acquitted of robbing Anton Stocker in St. George's on October 21, 1995.

Darrell had also been charged with burglary and two counts of wounding with intent, but Chief Justice Austin Ward told the jury on Thursday that they would return not guilty verdicts on those charges and would only consider the robbery charge.

Yesterday, after less than an hour of deliberating, the three-man, nine woman jury unanimously acquitted Darrell of robbery, giving him a birthday present to remember.

The Supreme Court trial saw three witnesses testify for the Crown while three witness statements were read into court.

APPEAL FOR WITNESSES POL CRM Appeal for witnesses Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious sexual assault on a visitor that occurred on Thursday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 4 p.m. that day while the woman, who is in her twenties, was jogging along the Railway Trail near Camp Hill, Southampton.

Police said in addition to committing the serious sexual assault the man, described as a dark-skinned black man in his late teens or early 20s, also robbed the victim.

The man fled east along the Railway Trail on a BMX pedal bike.

Police spokesperson Evelyn James Barnett yesterday said two people were thought to have seen the victim just before the attack and they are asked to contact Somerset CID on 234-0428.

BURLAR SCARED OFF CRM Burglar scared off A female visitor watched as a burglar ran from her Marley Beach cottage during the night after a failed attempt to steal while she and her husband slept.

The woman told Police she and her husband went to bed around 10.15 p.m. on Thursday night. But at 3 a.m. she was awakened by muffled sounds in the bedroom.

She got up to turn on the lights in the room and found a black man -- described as between 15 and 18 years old, five-feet, seven-inches tall, dark-skinned and of slim build -- huddled at the foot of her bed.

The man quickly fled from the Warwick cottage when the woman shouted at him, leaving without stealing anything.

SMITH'S FAMILY DAY RUN Smith's family day The Smith's Parish community will be hosting its first annual family fun day on Saturday.

The Harris Bay Community Day will take place at the Harris Bay Community Field on Sommersall Road from noon to 8 p.m.

The occasion will include the honouring of outstanding citizens, a road race and a fashion show with all-day entertainment, food stalls and games.

Organisers said the main event will be the three-mile run.

The race will start at 5 p.m. and follow a route along Harrington Sound Road, Devil's Hole Hill, South Shore Road, and Paynter's Road.

There will also be a shorter race for children under 12 years of age and "prizes for all sizes'' will be given away.

HILL DENIES THEFT CRM Hill denies theft Former Olympic boxer Clarence Hill pleaded not guilty in Magistrates' Court yesterday to stealing.

Hill -- the only Bermudian to have won a medal in the Olympics, a bronze in 1976 -- is accused of stealing two cans of sardines from the Co-Op Supermarket on Union Street on Thursday.

He will be tried on September 17.

RIDER BREAKS LEG AC Rider breaks leg A 17-year-old Sandys Parish female suffered a broken leg after the auxiliary cycle she was riding collided with a car.

Police said the accident occurred on Pleasant Ville Land, Sandys Parish on Thursday morning in heavy rain.

The teenager was riding north when she and a car driven by a 43-year-old Sandys Parish man collided.
