Computer buying guide launched
in Bermuda later this year.
Its name is a computer business acronym, "What You See Is What You Get.'' Mrs. Lois Wilson, at Wilson Associates, said the new magazine, to be published quarterly, will focus on computer hardware and software and technology and services offered locally.
The first issue is due September 1.
Printed by Island Press, it will include not only have a directory of local computer companies but also a listing of products.
This publication will have a "local focus,'' said Mrs. Wilson.
Wilson Associates can produce the advertisements, scan images as well as do colour separations at their office. The magazine is free.
"Each issue will have a theme, the first issue's theme will be telecommunications,'' explained Mr. Lester Nelson of Wilson Associates.
The publication will be a full-colour glossy and 5,000 copies will be available.
The advertising target market is about 200 companies with about 25 on board so far.
Local artist Mr. Edwin Smith is also working on the new publication.
Mr. Smith was commissioned by the Corporation of Hamilton to paint a picture of City Hall for the Queen. He also designed the cover illustration for the Philadelphia Flower Show's tourism brochure.
Wilson Associates, in the Windsor Place building, offers accounting and business management services.
Its latest service, "Winko's,'' allows customers the chance to use the company's desktop publishing equipment at an hourly rate.
