Supreme Court jury acquitted three men accused of causing grevious bodily harm.

In less than two hours, the jury returned to pronounce Gregory Zuill unanimously not guilty, Kujii Wade not guilty by ten votes to two and Kenneth Wade not guilty by nine votes to three.

Brothers Kenneth and Kujii Wade and their nephew Zuill were charged with causing grievous bodily harm to 43-year-old Michle King, the ex-boyfriend of the Wades' sister.

The verdict represents another blow for the Crown which last week saw its case against Dr. Vincent Bridgewater thrown out of court by Puisne Judge the Hon.

Last month a Supreme Court jury convicted a man charged with assaulting two Police officers and importation and possession of drugs on only one of five charges.

Yesterday's swift verdict followed a lengthy five-hour summing up by Puisne Judge the Hon. Mr. Justice Meerabux.

On Thursday, Crown Counsel Mr. Peter DeJulio urged the ten-woman, two-man jury not to be swayed by sympathy for the defendants in a trial in which King was portrayed as a violent man who frequently and viciously beat his former girlfriend.

Rochelle Cooper, sister of Kenneth and Kujii Wade told the court how King brutally beat her with a cedar stick, threw urine in her face and cut her throat with a kitchen knife.

The brothers claimed on October 4 they approached King at his house with with nephew Gregory Zuill after Cooper showed them her bruises following a beating from King.

There, they hit him about the head and body with a steel rod and plank of wood. King sustained a gash to his head and was hospitalised for two days following the incident.

The men claimed they went to the house with the intention of talking to King and extracting an apology but acted in self-defence knowing of King's history of violence and heavy build.
