Bermuda-based Hiscox Ltd. has announced the appointment of two healthcare underwriters to Hiscox Bermuda, subject to immigration approvals.

Ian Thompson has been appointed senior vice-president of healthcare and Nick Williamson as vice-president of healthcare and will focus on building a portfolio of healthcare liability business, complementing existing business written by Hiscox in London and the USA.

The pair join Hiscox from Endurance Specialty Insurance Ltd. Mr. Thompson formerly ran the healthcare team at Catlin Group (London) from 1998 to 2006. Mr. Williamson, a qualified actuary, worked for Endurance for seven years and previously Ace.

Charles Dupplin, chief executive of Hiscox Bermuda, said the company would benefit from their "strong reputation and wealth of experience".

He added that the move was also a "step towards providing more specialist products underwritten locally in the Bermudian market".
