McLaren hat-trick sparks Pot
Commercial League A Division with a 5-1 thrashing of Exiles at White Hill Field on Saturday.
Spearheading the victory was Jim McLaren who hit a hat-trick while veteran Troy Berkeley and Peter Jinks added the other goals.
It was a crushing loss for Exiles who trailed 2-0 at the half and then had Craig Critchlow sent off near the end.
Leaders Robin Hood are expected to be given maximum points after opponents North Village Rams showed up with just six men for their early 11 a.m.
kick-off at White Hill.
MR Onions were impressive in their 4-0 triumph over Prison Officers at Shelly Bay where Bill Spencer led their attack with two strikes. Also among the goals were Andy Robinson and Gary Wilson.
Onions took the initiative early and grabbed a commanding 3-0 lead by the break.
In the other A Division game, Fire Services had to hang on to beat Vasco Mariners 3-2 at Police Field. The firemen led 3-0 at the interval but Mariners surged back with two second half goals from Michael Bean.
In the B Division, Devonshire All-Stars remained in first place after winning a nine goal thriller against Valley International, 5-4, at Shelly Bay.
Veteran Jeff Richardson scored twice for the leaders, one from the penalty spot, while William Benjamin, Harrison Trott and Clarkie Trott added the other three.
Netting for Valley, who had led 2-0, were Kevin McNeil (2), Zane Dowling and Kai Simmons.
Bervyn Thomas made his debut in goal for Valley after joining them from Belco and it was his string of fine saves that kept Valley in the game.
Tuff Dogs hammered Bermuda Pest Control 8-0 at Berkeley with Joe Carollo leading the way with four goals. Nelson Almeida, Robby Almeida, Chris Sousa and Alex DeCouto also found the target.
The game between Devonshire Lions and Somerset Extros was postponed.
