Family of Tyaisha step up bid to change death crash legislation
The family of six-year-old Tyaisha Cox, who died in a traffic accident last year, will be at St. George's Square and Court Street, Hamilton today to get signatures for their petition seeking changes to the laws governing road fatalities.
Tyaisha's mother and grandfather have received almost 700 signatures so far.
And the number could be much higher once all the signatures being collected by other people are included.
Melanie Jane Wedgewood, of Hillview Road, Warwick, was charged with driving without due care and attention in relation to Tyaisha's death.
The petition is titled "The family of Tyaisha Cox in search of proper laws governing deaths which occur on Bermuda roads".
Tyaisha's grandfather Michael Cox will be at St. George's Square today from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. to try to get individuals to sign the petition.
And Margret Moore, Tyaisha's mother will be on Court Street today in attempts to add to the signatures she has already received.
