A touring Canadian college side will take on three local teams in a basketball tournament at Saltus Grammar School over the weekend.

St. Andrew's College, Toronto, have hosted Saltus soccer and basketball teams in recent years and among their ranks will be a student from Bermuda, national under-23 soccer team player Kevin Richards.

Saltus, Mount St. Agnes and CedarBridge are the other three teams competing and the tournament opens with MSA taking on CedarBridge at 4.00 p.m. today, followed by Saltus against St. Andrew's at 5.00 p.m.

Tomorrow, St.Andrew's play CedarBridge at 1.30 p.m., followed by MSA against Saltus at 3.00 p.m. On Sunday, MSA play St. Andrew's at 1.30 p.m., followed by Saltus and CedarBridge at 3.00 p.m.

The high school basketball season has seen a flying start by Warwick Academy, who have beaten Berkeley and Saltus in two close matches.

Alvin Forde's clutch free throw in the dying minutes sealed a 44-36 victory for Warwick against Saltus. Steve Simons scored 25 points for the winners and Forde 16, while Philip Rego led the losers with 20 points.

CedarBridge Blue have a 100 percent record in the girls division and will be looking forward to the end of the month when Cumberland High from Pennsylvania visit the Island for a four-game tour. The tourists will play MSA, Warwick Academy and Saltus, as well as CedarBridge.
