Today’s films

Closing film ‘Eagle vs. Shark’: An offbeat love story about a funny, fractured romance between two misfits, woven into an all-consuming quest for revenge and a shot through with the strange, sweet hilarity of the human condition. Showtime: 6.30 p.m. at Liberty Theatre.

A Sunday in Kigali: This powerful film tells a remarkable story of love, loss, and regret set against the background of the Rwandan genocide of 1994. Showtime: 1 p.m. at Liberty Theatre.

n Red Road: Named for a run-down high-rise tenement block in Glasgow, this thriller follows a CCTV operator who spots a man on her monitor she never wanted to see again. The film, the first feature from director Andrea Arnold, won the Jury Prize at Cannes. Showtime: 3.45 p.m. at Liberty Theatre.

n The Interpreter: This Sydney Pollack-directed thriller centres around an African-born UN interpreter (Nicole Kidman) who inadvertently overhears a death threat against an African head of state (Bermuda’s own Earl Cameron). Showtime: 1 p.m. at Little Theatre.

n 102 Minutes of Shorts: A series of fabulous shorts from England, Wales, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, United States and Bermuda are featured. Showtime: 3.45 p.m. at Little Theatre.

[box] Beauty in Trouble: This Czech film looks at the complex inter-personal relationships in modern Czech society in a love story about an ordinary woman, Marcela, who must choose between two men. Subtitles. Showtime: 6.30 p.m. at Little Theatre.

[box] A Walk in the Woods: Sumptuously animated short films from Weston Woods, adapting the finest in children’s literature. Appropriate for children age three and up. Showtime: 1 p.m. at BUEI Auditorium.

[box] Everything’s Cool: An entertaining, though distressing tale about Global Warming. We can’t wait too long before we wake up and realise everything’s not cool. Showtime: 3.45 p.m. at BUEI Auditorium.

[box] Living with Lew: This competing documentary follows Scott Lew as he undertakes the making of his first film ‘Bickford Shmeckler’s Cool Ideas’. Lew was diagnosed with ALS in 2003 at the age of 33. Despite the devastating news and the rapid progression of his disability, he forged ahead making his film. Showtime: 6.30 p.m. at BUEI Auditorium.
