Honour for insurance graduates

The Bermuda Insurance Institute is helping to keep Bermuda at the forefront of the international insurance and reinsurance industry and tomorrow 64 students will be honoured for achieving various professional insurance designations over the past 12 months. It is a record number of graduations.

BII director of training Peter Doyle said: "The increase in reinsurance companies sited here in Bermuda has led to more interest in reinsurance courses. We had 22 of our graduates gaining the Insurance Institute of America's (IIA) Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) designation.

"Seven students have become associates of the American Institute's Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU). Three others have become Associates of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) in London."

The awards will be presented by chapter services manager of the CPCU Society Ron Arthur, and member of the CPCU Society Board of Governors Wendy Free at a lunch at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess.

Mr. Doyle added: "This interest in the opportunities that the Bermuda Insurance Market offers, extends into the present record enrolment of more than 200 students at the Institute."

The students graduating tomorrow are representative of more than 20 Bermuda companies.
