Eight caught drink driving during holidays

Police were busy over the Christmas weekend with burglaries and people caught drinking and driving.

Police said eight people were arrested for drinking and driving since Friday night.

They were all men, aged 18 to 54. Four of them failed a breathalyser test while the other four refused to take it.

There were also 30 reported road accidents, nine of which resulted in injuries.

Over the holiday weekend police also received reports of 24 break-ins. A majority of the burglaries, 16, took place in Pembroke.

There were also three burglaries in Sandy?s, two in Warwick, one in Devonshire, one in Hamilton and one in Southampton.

Though Christmas was over the poinsettia plant remained popular, so much so that people have gone so far as to steal them.

Police were called to a Paget guest house at 1.45 a.m. yesterday after two potted poinsettia plants had gone missing.

Police arrested two 18-year olds in Hamilton a short while later.

he man and woman, both from Warwick, were driving along Front Street, when Police asked them to stop and arrested them. They were taken to the Hamilton Police station.
