Boulevard hit for six

Carlos Smith struck a hat-trick at Lord's yesterday as visiting Dandy Town found Boulevard easy prey in this Premier Division clash.

In addition to Smith's treble, defender Dean Bailey, Heys Wolfe and substitute Shaki Minors all found the target.

Boulevard were only a shadow of their team of old in a contest that was mostly one-day traffic -- all in favour of Town who built up a commanding 3-0 lead by half-time.

The Blazers' defence was disorganised from the start and their midfield and attack were consequently never allowed to get into any sort of rhythm.

Centre-back Leroy Stevens was uncharacteristically out of touch from the beginning. And goalkeeper Andre Hendrickson wasn't much better. The pair played a hand in giving up the opening two goals which came within the first 15 minutes.

Smith dribbled past Stevens and Dean Smith and fired home a shot from an angle on the right after just five minutes which sailed into the net between the near post and the goalkeeper.

Ten minutes later Smith bamboozled Stevens with another run and blasted his second strike from the same angle from some 14 yards out.

Town continued to dominate until the break, leaving Boulevard with just one desperate long-range shot by Stevie Wade that went high over goal after 37 minutes.

Bailey added a third Town goal after 39 minutes between two misses by Smith and the visitors were unlucky not to strike again when when Darron Simons' shot grazed the post.

Except for the hard work of substitute Lamaul Crofton when play re-started, Boulevard accomplished little to worry the Town defence in the second half which again saw the visitors dominate.

Wolfe made it 4-0 after 57 minutes, Smith got the fifth after 74 minutes and Minors completed the six-pack with the last goal after 84 minutes -- so capping Boulevard's worst outing of the season.
