Leon Gordon Gibbons, 28, of Woodbourne Avenue admitted to unlawfully assaulting his ex-girlfriend in her home after trying to get his stereo back from her on April 15.

He grabbed her arms and threw her down when she asked him to leave. Later Gibbons threatened her with a knife. Police were called and the victim was treated for minor injuries.

Gibbons' lawyer, Mr. Charles Vaucrosson, told the court the accused had been threatened by his ex-girlfriend's father and brother and had lost his job as a technician because she was friendly with his boss. As a result of the "emotional trauma'' experienced by Gibbons when the relationship ended, a fight broke out.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis commended Gibbons for having the good sense not to use the knife and fined him $500.

PRISON FOR POSSESSING CRACK COCAINE CTS Prison for possessing crack cocaine When Macdonald St. Clair Augustus opened his door to an unknown caller he did not realise he would end up in prison.

For the caller was a Police officer who spotted drug equipment on Augustus' bedroom table.

Further investigation led to the discovery of a white rock-like substance, which later turned out to be crack, a broken mirror and a razor blade. The substance and all equipment were seized and he was arrested.

Augustus, 39, of Roberts Avenue admitted possession of cocaine and drug-related equipment in Magistrates' Court.

Prosecutor Sgt. Peter Giles said a Police officer visited Augustus' home on 31 March after he failed to answer to a previously set bail. Upon entering the house, the officer saw homemade pipes on a table in the bedroom.

Augustus was sentenced to two concurrent five-month prison terms for the offences.

WOMAN ACCUSED OF ASSAULT ON POLICE CTS Woman accused of assault on Police A Southampton woman has been been charged with assaulting and wounding Police officers on Saturday.

Constance Eleanor Edness of Scenic Lane was released on $10,000 bail in Magistrates' Court. She was not required to enter a plea.

She faces accusations of unlawfully wounding P.c. Robin Hollinsid and assaulting P.c. Robin Russell Matthews with intent to wound.

The 49-year-old is also charged with unlawfully entering the home of Basil Ellsworth Gibbons of Shelton Road, Pembroke, that evening and doing damage to a water bed mattress and audio cassette.

Crown Counsel Mr. Stephen Harrison asked for bail to be set at $1,000 and one of the conditions be that she surrender her travel documents.

Mr. Harrison said Edness had strong connections with Jamaica and was a Jamaican citizen although she holds Bermudian status.

Edness' lawyer Ms Sonia Grant said that she had already booked travel arrangements to Jamaica with her children.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis said: "If she is going overseas she has got to have a substantial anchor here. I will let her go but I am going to put another `0' onto the bail.'' Mr. Francis set bail at $10,000, with two like sureties signing for half each.

Conditions also included staying away from Basil Gibbons and any resident of his home.
