Update: 19 MPs opposed to gaming in House of Assembly discussion, DeVent calls for a referendum
Walter Lister is the latest MPs to voice support to the concept of introducing gaming to Bermuda in the House of Assembly this evening.
Earlier Deputy Premier Paula Cox spoke against the idea of allowing gaming on the Island during the discussion on a Green Paper on the issue. So far the majority of MPs who have spoken on the subject in the House have voiced their objections to the idea.
As of 11.02 p.m. 26 MPs had spoken in the debate.
5 expressed support for gaming:
Dr. Ewart Brown, Zane DeSilva, Mark Pettingill, Shawn Crockwell, Walter Lister.
19 expressed opposition to gaming:
Paula Cox, Kim Swan, Wayne Furbert, John Barritt, Donte Hunt, Patrice Minors, Bob Richards, El James, Alex Scott, Walter Roban, Randy Horton, Grant Gibbons, Patricia Gordon-Pamplin, Dame Jennifer Smith, Louise Jackson, Cole Simons, Lovitta Foggo.
While MPs Dale Butler and Glenn Blackeney have said they support the idea of gaming, but would vote against in accordance with the wishes of constituents wishes.
