Test charter hopes dashed
been stumped by the revival of the West Indies team.
Brian Lara's side staged a remarkable fightback to win yesterday's Barbados test match against Australia, taking an unbeatable 2-1 lead into the final match of the series on Saturday.
But now it is too late to revive the planned charter to Antigua.
Meyer Travel president Henry Hayward said the original two-island charter, for Barbados and Antigua, was cancelled through lack of demand.
Bermuda-based fans were disillusioned when the West Indies team were trounced 5-0 in South Africa earlier this year.
But yesterday's thrilling finale to an epic test match has revived interest.
Mr. Hayward said: "Unfortunately, it's too late now. We've had a look into it but there's no question of replacing the charter.
"We cancelled it and most of those people who were interested went down to Barbados or Antigua on scheduled flights.'' CRICKET CRI
