Foggo scoops award

St. George's wicketkeeper Chris Foggo

St. George's wicketkeeper Chris Foggo has been presented with the prestigious Safe Hands Award Trophy for his acrobatic catch to dismiss Stephen Outerbridge in the Cup Match Classic.

Foggo, whose St. George's side retained the 2007 Cup Match trophy by drawing with Somerset, was handed his silverware by former Cup Match great Clavin "Bummy" Symonds and Butterfield Bank President & CEO Alan Thompson at a presentation at the Butterfield Bank Headquarters yesterday.

Foggo, who plays his club cricket with St. Davids, caught Outerbridge off the bowling of pace ace George O'Brien during Somerset's innings.

He becomes the first wicket-keeper to be awarded the coveted Safe Hands Award and only the third St. George's player to ever receive the award.

As well as receiving the Calvin "Bummy" Symonds Cup, Foggo's performance behind the stumps earned him a one thousand dollar cash prize, two round trip tickets to one of the gateway cities and dinner for two at a premier restaurant.

He also received a new playing kit courtesy of the Calvin "Bummy" Symond's family and the International Sports Shop.

The sole sponsor for the 2007 Cup Match Classic Safe Hands Award was Butterfield Bank.
