For the losers, Brendon Robinson scorched a home run and Cal Fox collected three hits and two RBI. Taking the win was pitcher Sanford Seepersad, as his side lead the best-of-three series 1-0.
In the nightcap, The Snowballs evened up their series with Cock and Feather on account of a 6-5 triumph, which owed much to the powerful bat of Sylvain Fontaine.
Fontaine blasted two homers, including the game winner in the bottom of the seventh with the score tied at 5-5.
Robert Maraghua similarly smashed two balls out of the park for Cock and Feather, but could not alter the result.
Mario Valcourt notched the win while Dennis Pamplin was saddled with the loss.
Trailing 13-12 going into the top of the eighth inning, Team Xerox erupted for three runs with key hits from Dave Steiert and Ralph DePalma as they hung on to defeat Gateway Herd 16-14 on Wednesday night in the second game of the Division `A' play-off series.
The victory by Team Xerox knotted the series at 1-1. Gateway Herd won the first game 13-8.
DePalma was sparkling at the plate, going four-for-four with two doubles and five runs-batted-in. Steiert, the other hitting hero, had three hits, two of them doubles.
Craig Prall and Gary Carr were hitting stars in the losing effort for Gateway Herd. Al Busby was the winning pitcher while Nigel Godfrey suffered the loss.
St. David's defeated PALMS 20-12 in Division `B' action, sweeping their play-off series. Hedley Furbert and Arthur Pitcher combined for five hits and each connected for home runs in the winning effort.
Mike Glasford was roughed up for a dozen runs but shut the door on PALMS batters in crucial situations. Larry King had four hits in as many plate appearances for PALMS and belted two round-trippers. Roberta Clarke was losing pitcher. St. David's won the first game 12-7 and they now advance to the finals.
Prison Officers topped Cooper & Lines 12-9 behind the hitting of Donald Norford, who went three-for-three with a home run and a double. David Frost was the winning pitcher as the Division `C' series is now tied at 1-1. C&L won the first game by default.
