Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis fined Troy A. Bremar of Laurel Lane $700 and gave him a three months prison sentence suspended for a year after hearing the facts on how Bremar beat up his former girlfriend.

He pleaded guilty to doing grievous bodily harm.

Prosecuting Sgt. Peter Giles told the court that on May 19 Bremar and his former girlfriend were at her residence in Sandys discussing her affair with another man.

"He began kicking and punching her around the body and face and when she fell to the floor he continued to kick her,'' Sgt. Giles said.

He added that the woman suffered bruising to her back and shoulders and she also had to have her front bottom tooth removed after Bremar kicked her mouth causing her tooth to loosen.

Sgt. Giles also said that when Bremar was arrested, he admitted slapping the woman five or six times.

When Mr. Francis asked if he had anything to say Bremar replied: "I'm sorry and I won't do it again.'' Mr. Francis said: "It was a very bad assault, the lady lost a tooth. It was bad enough slapping her but you kicked too. The more I look at this the worse it looks to me.'' Duty Counsel Miss Kiernan Bell said: "This was an unfortunate domestic dispute where jealousy and rage were sparked.

"Bremar had been living with her and found out she had been seeing another man at the same time.

"While they were arguing the phone rang and it was the man she had been seeing which caused him to loose control.'' Mr. Francis told Bremar that he had given a lot of thought to sending him to prison.

"I want to make it clear to you that the court regards this kind of assault very serious indeed.'' Chan Kwane Durham, of Vintage Hill, told Magistrates' Court he had to wait two days to get his car licensed at the Transport Control Department.

During that time he lost his green insurance slip and the ticket stub required to get served at TCD, he claimed.

He became so fed-up he kicked some panes of glass in the door at the department.

And he directed that $176 go towards repairing the door.

Prosecutor, Sgt. Earl Kirby said when Durham approached the TCD counter he was told he had to have a ticket stub in order to be served.

Durham protested and security guards came and told him the same thing, added Sgt. Kirby.

As Durham was leaving the building he kicked the glass panes and smashed them.

Durham, who admitted the offence, said it had been an accident born of frustration.

WOMAN LIED TO POLICE, FINED $1,079 CTS Woman lied to Police, fined $1,070 A 20-year-old Warwick woman was fined $1,070 in Magistrates' Court this week.

Kewanna Swan, of Ord Road, plead guilty to the offences of speeding, making a false statement and attempting to divert the course of justice.

Sgt. Rex Osborne, prosecuting, said that on December 8, as Swan was driving on Ord Road in Paget, a Police radar showed her travelling at 61 kph.

When she was stopped, Swan gave the Police a false birth date and told them her name was Mia Furbert.

Swan was also accused of diverting the course of justice between December 8 and March 17 -- the length of time she left Police with false information.

Swan called Police on March 17 and revealed the information she had given was false. A warrant had been issued for her arrest.

In a separate incident, Swan pleaded guilty to speeding at 59 kph on Crow Lane.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis fined Swan $250 for speeding at 61 kph, $300 for making a false statement, $300 for attempting to divert the course of justice and $220 for driving at 59 kph.

SOCIAL INQUIRY REPORT ORDERED FOR TEEN CTS Social inquiry report ordered for teen The Senior Magistrate this week ordered a social inquiry report on a teenage girl who sent a woman to hospital.

The Wor. Will Francis ordered the report after Melika Nikole Evans, 17, pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm.

Evans, of Curving Ave. in Pembroke, admitted the offence against Neisha Wilson which occurred on the afternoon of May 13 at the Heron Bay Market Place.

Sgt. Rex Osborne, prosecuting, said Evans attacked Wilson as she entered the store, knocking her to the ground with her helmet.

She then began kicking and punching Wilson.

Police questioned Evans the next day and she admitted the offence.
