Bermuda Insurance Institute presents educational forum
An educational forum for investment administration aimed at Bermuda market insurance professionals begins tomorrow at the Sonesta Beach Hotel, presented by the Bermuda Insurance Institute and Mellon Bank.
Economist Norman Robertson will be delivering the luncheon address tomorrow. A consulting economist and an adjunct professor of Economics at Carnegie-Mellon University, he also serves as a director of PP&L Resources, Inc. and Economics America (Pennsylvania Council on Economic Education).
A director of Mellon Bank until earlier this year professor Robertson was the bank's chief economist and on the senior management committee for 20 years until 1993.
Some 42 delegates have registered for the two day course, which involves 14 presenters. Participants can follow either of two tracks. One track focuses on issues that face investment management decision makers. The other is tailored to meet the needs of professionals involved in the administration of the investment process.
ACII and CPCU members can use the course to earn CPD points and CPA certified participants can receive CPE credit hours.
The comprehensive curriculum was designed to help seasoned investment professionals brush up on the latest industry trends, discover new information tools for monitoring and evaluating investment programmes and broaden their knowledge of derivative strategies.
Investment industry newcomers can learn the fundamentals of the securities industry, understand the role of a global custodian and gain insight into the elements of multi-currency investment accounting.
