Man to stand trial for $130,000 cannabis importation

A 48-year-old man was today accused of importing cannabis worth more than $130,000 into Bermuda.

Vain Waldron, of Happy Valley Road, Pembroke, appeared at Magistrates’ Court, where he denied importing the drug on May 25.

He also pleaded not guilty to possessing cannabis with intent to supply on the same date in St George’s.

Prosecutor Takiyah Burgess told the court that the drugs in question weighed 2,646.8 grams and had a street value of $132,350.

Mr Waldron opted for a summary trial and the case was adjourned until December 15.

He was granted bail in the sum of $10,000 with one like surety by Magistrate Juan Wolffe.
