BFA unveil new executive team

Bermuda Football Association yesterday unveiled a new executive committee to serve as president Larry Mussenden?s administration for the next four years.

Long-serving executive Jon Beard will again head the technical committee after taking over the reins following the sudden resignation of Robert Calderon late last year.

Charles Clarke has also retained his post as chairman of the league and cup competitions committee while treasurer Delroy O?Brien will continue in that role.

Mussenden, due back on the Island today, remains chairman of the association?s fundraising committee.

The Government senator and Attorney General defeated Mark Trott during last month?s Annual General Meeting by a single vote to retain the top post for a second term.

Trott, meanwhile, is now chairman of the education committee as he takes over from Reeshemah Swan.

Former Social Club player Fred (Pinks) Lewis has been appointed chairman of one of two new committees. Lewis takes charge of equipment and gear while BFA first vice-president, Chris Furbert is chairman of the gym field committee.

Newly appointed chairpersons include Western Stars Sports Club president Cal Blankendal (youth committee), Lee Holder (safety and security), Saidha Wainwright (website committee) and BFA second vice-president Gregory Grimes who prior to last month?s AGM chaired the association?s youth and women?s football committees.

Grimes has been appointed now as the BFA?s referees? chairman ? a post temporarily held by Trott following the resignation of Aldwin Savery earlier this year.

Roxianna Richardson is chairwoman of the BFA women?s committee, general secretary David Sabir chairman of marketing and Devonshire Recreation Club secretary Ellsworth Christopher has replaced Furbert as chairman of club development.

President Mussenden?s second term in office will run to 2008.

Executive member Kenny Thompson remains the association?s director of youth development. Thompson?s term expires early next spring.

All elected BFA officers serve out four-year terms while club representatives are elected annually.
