NY perfume launch brings Island global exposure

Global exposure: Isabelle Ramsay-Brackstone explains the Mary Celestia fragrance display to Senator Jeff Baron, Shawn Crockwell, the Minister of Tourism Development and Transport, and Catherine Zeta-Jones during the Mary Celestia fragrance launch event in Tribeca

The launch of a new Bermuda perfume has attracted major coverage in Germany’s biggest news magazine.

The story behind the 150-year-old fragrance, which was found on the Mary Celestia ship wreck, appeared in this week’s edition of Der Spiegel.

The German weekly publication also has one of the most popular news websites in the country.

The article includes six pictures of Bermuda as well as a lengthy report on the fragrance and its history.

“It’s been two weeks since the launch event in New York City and every day since then we’ve been pleased with the consistently expanding media exposure destination Bermuda is receiving,” Bill Hanbury, Bermuda Tourism Authority CEO said.

“Media exposure was the reason the Bermuda Tourism Authority accepted an invitation to partner in this event and our expectations have been thoroughly exceeded.

“Online, on television and in newspaper and magazines around the world, media — like the well-read Der Spiegel publication in Germany — are talking about the lure of our shipwrecks and the popularity of our perfume.

“These are attributes that set us apart from our competitors and embody the luxury, intrigue and exploration of a Bermuda travel experience.”

The launch of the Mary Celestia fragrance in New York last month was attended by Premier Michael Dunkley as well as Ministers Grant Gibbons and Shawn Crockwell.

Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones also joined the Bermuda Perfumery’s Isabelle Ramsay-Brackstone, for the event.

The fragrance went on sale last week.
